I. Today (August 21, 2022), the spot price of DN800×12m LSAW including tax is approximately 4,300 to 4,600 yuan per ton

(1) Taking Q235B and 10mm wall thickness conventional urban construction pipeline grade as the benchmark, the factory tax-inclusive listing price of mainstream steel pipe factories in Hebei and Shandong is concentrated at 4,300 to 4,600 yuan per ton. If the wall thickness is 12mm or 14mm, the price per ton will increase by approximately 60 to 80 yuan for every 1mm increase in thickness.(2) If "double anti-corrosion" (3PE on the outside + IPN8710 on the inside) is required, an additional 350 to 450 yuan per ton will be added to the price of the main pipe. If only 3PE is required, an additional 260 to 300 yuan per ton will be charged.

(3) The above are the prices for "full vehicle self-pickup". If delivery to construction sites in East China or South China is required, an additional 150 to 220 yuan per ton will be charged for road transportation (subject to fluctuations in oil prices and toll fees).

(4) The price fluctuates with the daily price of the coil plate. It has become a routine for the North China Steel Pipe Factory to adjust the price every Friday. If the price is locked on he same day, a 10% deposit is usually required and the steel pipe factory reserves it for three days.

II. Why can the quotation for the same DN800 vary by 300 yuan?

(1) Raw material grades: Q235B and Q355B. The latter has higher strength but is 120 to 150 yuan more expensive per ton for coil plates.

(2) Forming method: JCOE (Two-step forming) has an additional finishing step compared to UO forming, increasing the cost per ton by 50 to 80 yuan. However, it offers better dimensional accuracy and is suitable for high-pressure and thin-walled applications.

(3) Flaw detection grade: For urban construction projects, RT grade III +UT Grade II is generally required. If only RT grade II is needed, it can be 40 to 60 yuan cheaper per ton.

(4) Anti-corrosion standard: The price difference between ordinary 3PE (GB/T 23257) and reinforced 3PE (SY/T 0413) is 70 to 90 yuan per ton.

(5) Packaging method: Steel band bundling is 25 yuan per ton cheaper than single steel frame packaging, but the outer anti-corrosion layer is prone to damage during long-distance transportation.

(6) Order quantity: The price difference between full truckload (≈25 tons) and less-than-truckload can reach 100 yuan per ton.

III. Is it really possible to make a 12 meter standard size?

IV. Delivery Time and Inventory - When is the most cost-effective time to Place an Order?

(1) March to May and September to October each year are the peak periods for the construction of municipal pipeline networks. The prices of coil plates and steel pipes increase simultaneously. It is the safest to lock in the price 15 days in advance.

(2) Currently (in late August), the main steel pipe factories in North China have a stock of approximately 23,000 tons of DN800 in stock, with wall thicknesses ranging from 8 to 14mm available. Regular delivery takes 3 to 5 days.

(3) If the project also requires elbows, tees, expansion joints and other accessories, it is recommended to inquire about the price as a package of "steel pipes + pipe fittings". Pipe fittings have a high profit margin, and pipe factories are often willing to offer a discount of 30 to 50 yuan per ton on steel pipes.

V. How is the price per ton converted to "per meter"?

Conversion formula (General) :

Price per meter (yuan/meter) = price per ton (yuan/ton) × theoretical weight (ton/meter)

(0.02466 is the carbon steel coefficient, unit: kg/mm²/m; ÷1000 convert kg to tons)
